Kelly wasn't exactly sociable lately. Not after Shay's death. He couldn't turn a friend away, she wanted to be there for him. He warned her though he was going to be shitty company. He was staying at Casey's but rented a hotel room. That way they could hang out and not bother Casey and Dawson. He answered the door for her, not even close to his usual self. "Hey, come in."

"Hey." Megan could see that just in looking at him; she was a nurse, she knew what to look for in people. Which was why she immediately wrapped her arms around him in a hug whether he wanted one or not. Kelly had been there for her when she needed him, now it was her turn to return the favor.

Kelly was surprised by the hug but he returned it, holding her closer for a little. He appreciated the comfort. He tried half heartedly to be that flirty guy but it fell flat. Horribly flat. "Couldn't wait to touch me huh?" There was no playfulness behind it, he was just trying too hard.

"I missed you," Megan admitted, maybe a little sheepishly. There were still certain feelings in her for Kelly after the night they'd slept together but she was sure not to mention them now when he had enough on his mind. She closed the door behind herself and hung up her jacket before she turned back to him. "So tell me. What can I do? How can I help?"

"I don't know. Honestly. I don't know." He went and sat down and scrubbed his hands over his face, which looked to be a bit rougher and scruffier.

"Whatever you need, I'm here for you, babe." Megan came to sit beside him, rubbing his back in an attempt to reassure him. "I know it feels like nothing will ever get better right now but trust me it does. I've been to some pretty scary places myself and I'm still here."

"I debated leaving the firehouse for a bit. I can't even live in the loft anymore." He did slip an arm around her as she rubbed his back.

"It's understandable. But you never want to make a big life decision out of an emotion like grief or anger. You make bad decisions that way." Megan advised. "I mean, take some time away, but don't change your whole life. Trust me, if you think this is bad, I've been in a whole lot worse way."

[youjumpin]

"Already used up my time off, plus a few weeks extra no one could find me." He looked at her a bit and kissed the top of her head.

"They don't have a bereavement program?" she asked, although that little gesture did make her smile. She rested her head against his shoulder and closed her eyes. "I love you, Kelly. I'm not going to let anything happen to you."

[youjumpin]

"Six weeks I guess was a good amount of time. I don't like talking to people like that." He wasn't exactly the bare his soul to a stranger type.

"I mean that they usually allow you to take time off for grieving." Megan commented. "Is there anything you need? Anything I can bring you?"

[youjumpin]

"I took it. Just been a hermit really." He settled back and rubbed her arm gently.

"That's so not good for you." Megan sighed and stretched out beside him. "You shouldn't be alone, Kelly. I don't want you to go through this by yourself. I mean, look at what you did for me, the least I can do is be here for you."

[youjumpin]

"I didn't do much." Still a little modest on that. He did manage a small smile before he kissed her cheek tenderly.

"Not to me." Megan leaned over and placed a chaste kiss on his lips, not pushing for anything, just wanting to show him what he meaned to her. She would stay by his side as long as he asked.

[youjumpin]

He reached up a moment to stroke her cheek lightly, kissing her back gently. "Thank you for being here."

"Of course." She smiled down at him, leaning into his touch. "I've never stopped thinking about you. Just tried not to bug you too much," she commented. Sure it had only been one night between them but it had been a memorable one.

[youjumpin]

"You could never bug me, Megan." He was more relaxed now she was there.

"Good to know." She smiled more. "Have you eaten? Why don't we get you into a hot shower and then get some dinner? I'll even not look at your ass this time."

[youjumpin]

"You'll make me think something is wrong with my ass." He smiled and stood pulling off his shirt and tossing it on a pile. "But that sounds good."

"Trust me, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your ass. That's exactly why I'm trying to avoid looking at it. Or we'll end up having shower sex again." Megan laughed and walked ahead of him to the bedroom. "Come on. I'll start you a shower and then order up some food. What are you hungry for?"

"Was it that bad you want to avoid it?" Kelly managed to quip as he followed her and smiled. "Why don't you surprise me."

"No, it was actually really, really good and I would do it again in a heartbeat." Megan laughed as he caught up with her, she'd already started the shower for him and gotten him a towel. "You enjoy your shower. I'll take care of dinner."

[youjumpin]

"Who knows? You might get lucky again." He gave her ass a swat before he undressed and slipped into the shower.

Megan made a happy little squeal at that, but she promised herself she'd at least order dinner first. If Kelly wanted to make a move on her that was fine but she wouldn't keep him from taking care of himself. She ordered food and then popped back into the bathroom. "Dinner will be up in about 45 minutes," she commented, while checking out his ass.
