Kelly was a man of his word, so when he told megan if she were to ever visit Chicago he'd take her out and show her around he had meant it. He had taken her to all the good places to eat (of course this was just one man's opinion), treated her to Chicago style pizza, showed her around the firehouse, and now they were at Molly's.

"Like it here so far?"

"I do. It's a little busier and noisier than I'm used to, but I like it."

Megan smiled over at him. She was relaxed, in just a light dress under a leather jacket. It was nice to be able to let her hair down, and to do it with a new friend was even better. Kelly was sweet, and really charming, she liked him already.

"I'll get the first round," she said, getting the attention of the bartender. "What do you like?"

He smiled and waved to Hermann when he came over, and nodded to Megan. He introduced them and by the way they talked she knew that was his last name.

"This is Hermann, he works with me as well. This is Megan, a friend from out of town. I'll have a beer."

"You got it Severide. Nice to meet you Megan, what can i get for you?"

"Um, rum and Coke please, and thank you."

Megan chuckled and glanced over at Kelly. "Is there anyone in Chicago you don't know?" she teased. "This is so cool. Back home, most of the people I knew have moved away. Actually there's a friend I need to see who works at a hospital here now. But there's like...two people who still work at the hospital that were there when I left. I miss the sense of familiarity."

"Nope, I know all." He joked with her and smiled shrugging, he was used to the familiarity. "We are one big family at the firehouse." He smiled gently and relaxed. "Yeah? What hospital?"

"Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. We have the best diagnostics department in the country." Megan smiled, she was proud of it and also proud of Chase, who was now head of the department. "It's been tough for me. Coming back after my addiction problems. The place is so different now. But it's still home for me, you know?"

Kelly smiled at the pride she had when she spoke. "So someone you worked with is here in Chicago?"

"Yeah. Her name is Allison Cameron, she used to work in diagnostics. Though she might have a different last name now, I heard she remarried while I was gone." Megan chuckled, she'd omit the part where she was friends with Cameron's ex-husband. That always made people arch an eyebrow for some reason. "I thought I'd go say hello while I'm in town. When I'm not enjoying present company."

"See, coming to visit me had it's perk." He chuckled softly and took a drink of his beer when it was brought. He smiled then looking to her. "Next, you have to have a real authentic Chicago-style hotdog."

"All this food, you're going to make me fat," Megan joked but it was clear from her smile she didn't mean it seriously. She wasn't one of those women who obsessed about her eating habits or her weight. "I was thinking of going to a baseball game too, but you guys have two teams, I'm not sure which one I'm supposed to cheer for." A chuckle.

Kelly chuckled and smirked a bit at her words. "I say you pick the team you want. And I won't make fun of you either way if you pick the wrong one."

"Good, because I like you, I'd hate to have to elbow you in the spleen." Megan chuckled and took a drink before she glanced at him again. "Though you seem like the kind of guy who has absolutely no problem with the ladies. Reminds me a little bit of my ex actually."

[youjumpin]

"I have the problem of picking the wrong ladies." He chuckled softly and relaxed. 'And I am so going to hope this is a good ex I remind you of."

"I wish I could say that. I have a problem of picking the wrong guys." She chuckled and shook her head slightly. "I'm still waiting for that guy who sweeps me off my feet. But at the same time, is that guy I can just relax at home and have a beer with. After everything I've been through I'm not into big, flowery stuff anymore. I learned to appreciate the small things in life."

"I think I may be wounded right now." Kelly teased but the smile was there all the same. "At least tell me I'm a better guy."

"You are. If you asked me out, I'd go out with you." She nodded seriously. "My ex had a lot of his own stuff to work through I think. It's not like he had a sign that said he was going to fuck up my life."

[youjumpin]

"The ones that will fuck up your life never seem the type." Kelly smiled a moment. "Last girl I was really with, told me she was pregnant. Ended up being another man's baby."

"Ouch." She winced. "Well, for what it's worth...I know I'm not in town very long but if you ever want to go out, I'd be down with that. I don't think I can get pregnant that fast."

[youjumpin]

He chuckled softly and smirked a bit. "Only if I strip you down naked and have my way with you."

"I'd be surprised if I was your type," she admitted. "And even then you'd have to have super sperm to get me knocked up in the next four days." Megan chuckled, she didn't flirt much because she was still wounded, but that didn't mean she wasn't listening.

"Who knows, I just might have super sperm." He took another drink of his beer, and smiled watching her.

"As a nurse I can say that's highly unlikely, even for you." She laughed and nursed her drink for a moment. "Though thanks for giving me the mental image of you naked, now I have to push that one out of my head."

"I could be the one to defy the odds." He waggled his brows playfully. She was learning he liked to tease and was a natural flirt.

Megan laughed, she didn't want to take this too seriously with her wounded ego. But he was fun to be around. "I've always wanted kids," she admitted, changing the subject ever so slightly. "But not until after I'm married. And before marriage comes dating somebody who I can trust again."

[youjumpin]

"So have I. I mean it'll happen someday, but I want to be a better father than mine was." Kelly smiled over at her and leaned close. "He was kind of an ass who cheated."

"I haven't spoken to my parents since I left the country. I think I'm too ashamed to face them now." Megan chuckled but having him close kept her from getting too maudlin. "Well, like I said. I know I'm not here long, but I'm here for you. I mean literally, you're the reason I came here." If he really wanted to pursue her she wouldn't put up much of a fight, but she saw him as a new friend who she didn't have to hide with. And who made her laugh.
